Energy

Today more than ever, a reliable and stable energy supply is a challenging task. The turnaround to renewable energies with all its effects requires a securing of grid stability, also with regard to the many subsidized decentralized generators and feeders. Due to the multitude of influences, network operators need reliable information about the condition of the networks, e.g. from the feeder to the local transformer station to the substation to the control room, in order to be able to regulate supply networks intelligently and efficiently and to control them safely. Nevertheless, there is high cost pressure on the extensive investments and renewals in the network infrastructure. Thus, both efficient fault annunciating and telecontrol technology with modern interface protocols such as 60870-5-104 or 61850 are required to, among other things, minimise or prevent failures and shorten restart delay times.

MFW two wire local substation

Digitalization of the distribution grid

Digitalization in the distribution grid

The local network stations of a Southern German municipal utility distributed throughout the city are equipped with short-circuit indicators. The robust and highly interference-resistant signal transmission of the MFW two wire ensures that the data from the local substations in the urban area is reliably transmitted in encrypted form over a distance of up to 20 km.

Transformer monitoring

Volt-free indication of hazards in power distribution and power generation plants

For the monitoring of transformer feeder panels it is of great advantage for the plant operators and plant constructors to realize the monitoring with fail-safe displays. Schalttechnik Nord has been solving this problem highly successfully for many years with the FSM10 drop flap fault indicator from EES.
